'the Readers'

Posted by Lilian White on: 2005-08-17 16:37:48

What is it about books such as 'Lord of the Rings' and others that makes readers keep wanting to read more books?
Is it the need to escape into a different world that spurs readers on?
This is one of the reasons. But, there are other reasons such as a need to feel at one with a character or characters that have similar experiences to the readers.
Then, there is the joy of discovery and other emotions the writer is aiming to achieve in the work for their readers.
Whatever the reasons the readers read books, keep reading them because writers care very much about whether you'll read more of their works.
Readers also love to be informed and entertained. And where would literature be without the support of these readers?
