News & Society Articles & NewsGlobal Warming...What Can You Do? Today I made a decision. There are so many issues confronting us today, from political issues, to health issues, to economic issues, to environmental issues….it’s easy to become overwhelmed and do nothing. Sometimes I feel that there are so many problems in this world, and they are so huge, that my little voice will never be heard, much less have any measurable impact on any of these issues. I know that I am not alone in this feeling. Euro Tunnel Bankrupt Public transportation is typically problematic as it creates its own wind of bureaucracy. The Euro Tunnel is no different in that it has to deal with all sorts of rules and regulations. We see in the United States many crises in the public transportation sectors. Bus systems are found to be often losing money and wasting dollars. We see the BART Trains in San Francisco as well upside down in cost per rider VS costs to run the system. Being Black Being Black and being a man in this day an age is almost like taking a roller coaster ride through life, Whoa! I hear you say, Before you get on your high horse, just let me say that I have spoken to loads of my friends about this, Black and White and they all agreed with what I had to say…So Can I continue? Cool! Right where was I… Society in Deep Denial on What Constitutes Sexual Child Abuse Are you shocked, sickened and dismayed by the Michael Jackson verdict? I am not shocked, but I am significantly sickened and dismayed that society is in denial about what constitutes sexual child abuse. AFF for Grid Smart Dust Drop AFF stands for Automated Flight Following System, which is used in aerial fire fighting to insure that the fire retardant is dropped in the drop zone even though with the smoke the visibility is very low making it difficult to see. As one aircraft goes in another follows in behind it. This off the shelf technology has been used for over a decade now and with the advances of GPS accuracy and GIS modeling of surface terrain by satellite its uses should be incorporated into the laying of smart ... Cal Thomas at Foxnews What's Happened? When I lived in the United States, before moving to Mexico, I used to depend on Foxnews for a fair chance at hearing something halfway "fair and balanced" in the news. In the two years I have been gone from the U.S., something has happened. What it is I don't know. Nevertheless, from their coverage of the "illegal alien" issue it must have been something bad. Christian Psychotherapy for Convicts? Repeated research studies have revealed that secular efforts at rehabilitation have been unsuccessful in preventing recidivism. Not one of the various approaches to psychological counseling has been able to demonstrate success statistically in helping inmates rehabilitate. Among nearly 300,000 prisoners released in 15 states in 1994, 67.5% were re-arrested within 3-years. A study of 1983 releases estimated 62.5% (Langan and Levin, Bureau of Justice Statistics, June 2002). The Abortion Debate One of today’s most controversial topics, abortion pits the rights of a mother against the rights of a fetus. The most common, clear-cut stances on the issue are “pro-choice” and “pro-life,” which hinge on legal and moral considerations. Another common viewpoint is a more blended pragmatist view, which states that abortion should be prohibited except for specific cases. Social Robotic MAVs to Divert Migratory Birds with H5N1 Virus We need to develop robotic unmanned MAVs; Micro-air Vehicles to stay within the bird populations. As the migratory birds contract the H5N1 Bird Flu Virus stain and travel they will introduce this to the mosquito population and to local birds. Once this occurs we will have a problem with our chicken populations. Recently China admitted over 160 people died and will eventually admit it was actually nearly 800 people. 13,000 birds have been incinerated and this is only in the Western Province ... Conspiracy Theory Boston Tunnel Boston Tunnel is a prime candidate for a conspiracy theory attack; many reasons for this indeed. Some say 9-11 happened for a combination of reasons; to tighten control of humans in the United States; to get rid of the asbestos liability in the twin towers; to have a war to support the military industrial complex. So many such conspiracy theories out there really; some are completely preposterous. Others could work with an overblown imagination. Boston Tunnel has all these potential reasons ... Blunt Force Leaves 24 yr Old in a Coma The police arrested her mothers live-in boyfriend of over 10 years, Brian Boudreaux, of 28605 James Chapel Road in Holden, Louisiana on charges of aggravated assault and cruelty to the infirm (because he left her unconscious for so long before calling 911) on Oct 18, 04, he has since posted bond. Iran Scrambles Cable TV Channels Is the Iranian government afraid of the outside world? Once again trying to keep its citizens in the dark as to what is going on? Is the leadership worried about a huge civil war out break? It appears something is up. The moderates in Iran are pro-western world and culture and want to have improved lives and increased quality of life. They are looking for a sign for the US and other nations to back them up in a revolution. It appears that revolution is getting closer by the minute. Mexicans: Disease Ridden or a lot of Hype?
