Food Stores Taking a Hit

We have recently seen the grocery store strikes in California and the attacks on the Industry for anti-trust. We have seen poor performing stocks in this sector for years now. Wal-Mart Super Stores are also making a huge dent in the industry forcing grocery stores to exit markets where they are located too close to Wal-Marts. Recently Winn-Dixie announced it would close 326 stores and cut 22,000 jobs as their CEO Peter Lynch said that the closings would reduce revenue from $10 billion to ...

Smithsonian and Water

An article in the Smithsonian “Digging Ditches” seemed to take a liberal slant unnecessarily when discussing the buying up of water rights. Now of course we see the real problem of those buying up the water rights in NM, and South TX. One person interviewed had said “The practice of trading water as a commodity, is like selling sunshine” Although if you look closely they are talking about that too.

America's Mexican Xenophobic History

Just how old is this rampage? Where did it come from? Is today's Minuteman Project, and programs like it, the innovation of clever, brilliant, and "original" thinkers who would convince you their mission is to "Save America"? Or, is some of this rampaging the result of something else?

Can We Talk?

I couldn't sleep last night. This is something associated with my chronic illness. The pain becomes unbearable, I cannot sleep, and no amount of pain medication helps. I've been living with this since 1993.

Phony Baloney Detection Lesson #1

The Proper Use of Statistics There are a lot of facts, figures, evidence, and statistics in the "Illegal Mexican" controversy. Everyone has something to quote in the debate no matter on which side of the fence he or she is standing. Even a lie or a sincerely held false belief is liable to have some facts to support, at least in the mind of the beholder, that the position is the correct one. Sometimes, it is a truckload of facts, manuals, abstracts, and studies that someone ...

Mexicans: Police Brutality Really?

A reader asked me, referring to Mexico, "How could you live in a country that is so corrupt?" This was based partly on a cited incident in a story by Tim Donnelly entitled, Sanctuary Lost, in which Mr. Donnelly says,

40 Million Credit Card Numbers Stolen – CardSystem Solutions Incompetence

CardSystems Solutions moronic security efforts have resulted in the potential theft of information for 40 million credit cards. Hackers were able to install a rogue program, probably a Trojan, in the CardSystems security network. This program captured credit card information including the cardholder’s name, account number and verification code.

An Old, Old Theme: Xenophobic Americans

An extremely old and familiar theme in U.S. history has been the episodic anti-foreigner xenophobia. So old, so familiar is this xenophobia, that at one time it was illegal in 22 states to teach a foreign language. The Supreme Court had to overturn this idiocy and still, by 1954, only 56% of American high schools offered foreign language study with less than 14.2% enrolled in foreign language study.[1]

Coffee Shop Conversation and Reality Check

So today someone asked me at a Coffee Shop: ‘Whattdaayyaa know?” I did not have time to answer their question in its entirety so I let them know what was on my mind. First recently when I was in Las Vegas for a Large Heavy Equipment show and I talked with a Taxi Cab Driver from the Middle East, who said he made about $150.00-$250.00 per day average in the on season and $80-100 in the off season, he was an independent contractor and he was Muslim, Islamic or whatever and he went into the ...

Mexicans: A 10 year old Delight

There has been much talk in the news about the so-called "illegal alien" problem in the United States. As a writer and someone who has expatriated to Mexico, I try to keep my writing finger on the pulse of the news copy coming out of the United States.

Collected Unpaid Child Support (You Could be Owed Money)

There is nothing more discouraging than doing the right thing and not getting credit for it. How many non-custodial parents are paying child support only to have it lost by a disbursement center that is under staffed and technologically inapt? There is over $100 Billion in accumulated unpaid support owed to 18 million children in the United States, according to The Federal Office of Child Support in the Preliminary Statistics for 2003.

UFO Makes Aerodynamically Impossible Departure

We have all heard the stories of UFO watchers as they tell tales of space craft making abrupt turns at ninety-degree right angles and hyper spacing out of sight. Some of Hollywood’s movies are also interesting when they depict these maneuvers on the big screen. UFO enthusiasts around the globe get together to discuss the physics involved in such flight. Some say as they leave our dimension into the next they appear to be leaving at a right angle, but in reality they are entering a different ...

Whole World Wearing Neckties

Have you ever watched the world news by satellite and seen all the different cultures wearing neckties? They kind of look silly on the Asian Business news, after all that is a Western Culture thing? As a matter of if you stop and think about it you might consider that all these humans are running around wearing leashes as if they were domesticated pets? But who is the invisible master? Is it the money? Are they all economically enslaved and know that if they do not wear the neck tie that ...

Humans Can Detect Earthquakes too

You have probably heard a lot in the news about animals being able to predict Earthquakes. Cats, Dogs and domesticated pets seem to have some rather unusual behavior before Earthquakes and seem to attempt to warn us. Generally it is in hindsight we come to find out that the reason for their bizarre behavior was due to the impending Earthquake.

Euro Tunnel Chunnel Now Bankrupt

The Euro Tunnel is now bankrupt, but it has a new leader to take over. A couple of years back the entire board of the EuroTunnel was sacked and a new board installed. Now we have a new boss at the helm; who comes in as the cash dry Chunnel Operation hits the end of the line. They are out of money.

Climate Science and Global Warming

Rising sea levels are occurring as part of the climate changes we face on the Planet’s latest cycle. This will become problematic as 50% of the human populations live by the sea. Many large cities are only less than 100 feet about sea level. Thirty percent of all the human population live only 50 feet above sea level. Cities like Los Angeles, Seattle, San Francisco, San Diego, Sacramento, Miami, Tampa, Jacksonville, New Orleans, Houston, etc. and that is only in the United States. What about ...

Earthquakes in California?

If you are worried about Earthquakes in California, you are not alone. Having been studying Earthquakes on the Pacific side of the Americas for quite some time, I have seen patterns, which are problematic for human populations. Often we see Earthquakes over a two-three month period starting in Peru and moving upward into Columbia, Guatemala and into Mexico, which seem to trigger volcanic activity as well. The huge 8.8 Earthquake in Mexico City occurred after two large 7 magnitude quakes in ...

Nano Material Power Poles with Interior Capacitors

There is a significant problem with our power poles; the capacitors contain a gas which if it escapes in 1000 more times damaging to the ozone than carbon dioxide. In areas of high lightening strikes this can be quite serious. Lightening strikes are quite common in the United States. They often will hit a power pole and take out the capacitor. There are also significant issues in Hurricane prone coastlines. We must also consider the wild fires out west and the Earthquakes too. When these ...

Hurricane Hunters and Grid Hurricane Tracking Concept

The United States Air Force has a special team of half insane and half scientific modern day warriors. Knights of the sky willing to do the unthinkable; they fly directly into hurricanes; on purpose? Pretty brave stuff indeed. I propose a scientific mission for these brave heroes; to lay smart dust in the eye of an advancing Hurricane. I propose they fly directly into the Hurricane and drop out floating buoy type devices, which will open as the eye-wall of the advancing hurricane winds pass ...

Mexicans: Criminal Infestation or a lot of Hype Part One

If you have been following my columns (and if not, why not?), you know I am embarking on a series of articles, prompted by reader's comments on the "Illegal Alien" issue.

Hello Arlene, Bad Hair Day?

Arlene is just under Hurricane Status and could increase in speed. The winds are at 60 miles per hour and the storm is moving at 14 knots. It is dumping huge amounts of rain on Florida. Many Gulf Oil Platforms have been evacuated. Pensacola Beach is under mandatory evacuation as of 4 pm Friday.

Berkeley Pit Superfund Site

As many of you know the Copper Mines, which are nearly all closed in the US due to falling Copper Prices in the 80's. Actually they had been steadily falling since the end of W.W.II. This Berkeley Copper mine owned by ARCO, provided nearly 80 percent of the copper in W.W.II. Many cities who relied on these mines to drive their economy have been hurt.

55 Gallon Drums with Barrel Linings

Fifty-five gallon drums often leak and become environmental hazards, but it does not have to happen in this way. I propose using the interior plastic CDF style liners which will be a ceramic coating on the both interior and exterior of the molded lining. The 55-gallon drums will also be coated with ceramic coating.

Catching Eco Terrorists

The ELF group; Eco-Terrorist Liberators Front is a group of so-called environmentalists, who want to save the world by using arson and vandalism to send a message to all of us to stop our way of life. They say we drive SUVs, which pollute and build fine homes in the wilderness and claim we should not be able to have choice. They claim all corporations are evil and denounce any sense of consumerism.

Respect Man

When I was growing up it always seemed to me that everyone around me had something that I did not have and I just had to have it! That was ‘respect’.

EcoTerrorist Liberators Frontal Assaults on the Environment

Econ-Terrorists are attacking our natural lands using fire and arson as their weapons. They use these tools of fear to set forth a personal agenda to prevent people from enjoying the Natural Beauty our nation has to offer. The ELF; Eco-Terrorist Liberators Front started in Canada. Thus the group, which has now infiltrated the United States and is actively recruiting our youth thru brain washing techniques can be considered cross-border International Terrorists. We should round these folks up ...

Eat Meat Feed the World Protein

Can we feed the world meat without producing all the animal waste? Can we have third world nations eat meat without living with their animals? It takes a lot of bulk to raise an animal, that food we produce to feed them, we could be feeding ourselves or grow other things on that land we could eat instead. Why not grow the meat without the animal? We would have complete quality control. But would religious folks allow that?

Roots of Islamic Terrorism: How Communists Helped Funadmentalists

Terrorism is not as difficult a concept as some claim. It is a political ideology (-ism) on the use of terror, which is arbitrary, unrestricted and unspecified fear. This excludes traditional warfare against regular armies and police forces, and individual assassinations of public figures.

Arsonists and Eco terrorism

There are those in the world who support Eco-terrorism as a way to bring about change. These people believe that it is funny when Eco-terrorists burn down an SUV dealership full of Hummers. Yet in doing so pollute the air with fumes from burning rubber, gasoline, oils, paint and other toxic fumes which are 50 times worse for living things that your basic BBQ. They believe that this some how sends a message to people to stop buying SUVs? We all ought to buy SUVs to hunt these people down and ...
